You may be experiencing jaw pain due to arthritis, jaw injury or no exact cause. You have tenderness, soreness, aching or throbbing pain in one or both of the temporomandibular joints, around the ear or on your face. You may have difficulty chewing without pain or discomfort. You may have difficult to open or close your mouth due to jaw locked. Also, there may be a clicking sound or grating sensation when you open your mouth or chew.
If you have signs or symptoms above, you may have TMJ disorders. Your doctor may give you some medicine for pain, inflammation or muscle relaxing or suggest a surgery for you.
However, there always has another option for you: acupuncture. Acupuncture can relieve the pain, inflammation and spasm, open the joint, and correct the joint. From my practicing experience, acupuncture work really well for TMJ in all those symptoms and you may do not need surgery anymore.
How many sessions of acupuncture treatment this condition needs really depends on how sever is your condition and how long you have it. But you will feel the difference after every treatment.
